Apollon draws its inspiration from Albert Tournaire's watercolour and ink study of the Apollo sanctuary restoration in Delphi, an architectural rendering conceived by the young student in 1894. The design distils the classical grandeur of this ancient site with considerable refinement, translating historical documentation into a contemporary wall treatment. Printed on textile with delicate metallic accents, the composition echoes the tactile richness of woven tapestry whilst mounted on non-woven backing. The original artwork resides within the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Paris, lending scholarly provenance to this thoughtfully conceived wallcovering.
