Beaumesnil Broderie takes a very beautiful nineteenth-century motif of sinuous branches bearing opulent flowers and embroiders it on a silk satin. The pairing is unashamedly rich: the satin's soft light beneath, the raised stitching above, the branches winding between with period confidence. It is an opulent fabric in the proper sense — generous, worked, and made to be seen close as well as far.
