Bengali is a delicate all-over of birds and flowers, reproducing a decorative element from an Indo-Persian panel painted and printed with a wooden block in the eighteenth century and kept in Maison Pierre Frey's heritage archives. The drawing retains the poise of its source — stems, blossoms and birds arranged with miniaturist care — and the block-printed origin shows in its gentle, unmechanical rhythm. An archive piece of real refinement.
