Benin Laine reflects the spirit of the first African toiles de Tours issued by Le Manach in 1928, giving that pioneering series a contemporary twist through its construction: New Zealand wool in cut and loop pile, entirely hand-tufted. The alternation of pile gives the pattern its relief, the wool its depth. It is a piece of textile history restated for the floor — 1928 by way of the tufting frame.
