Pierre Frey | Betty – Teinte Champagne

Elisabetta Freda drew Betty from a chair her father made — a piece about heritage and memory as much as about sitting down. Metal gives it strength, textile gives it warmth, and the two are reconciled in the line: armrests and legs trace curves gentle enough to take the rigidity out of the frame. The name is doubly personal, from her own nickname Betta and from her grandmother Elisabetta, known as Betty in the United States.
