Bordure Petits Appartements de la Reine is a wool rug, entirely hand-knotted in Nepal, that reinterprets for the floor a border from a furnishing canvas named 'L'Ananas', printed by wood block at the Oberkampf factory circa 1777 in Jouy-en-Josas. A detail once running along the edge of a printed cotton becomes the whole subject — eighteenth-century ornament, re-scaled and re-knotted with museum-grade patience.
