Bursa is built around a wide border inspired by pomegranate motifs — elegant, sophisticated, and worked in botanical silk against a heathered ground of cut velvet in two heights. The change of level and fibre is the craft of it: the silk ornament lifted, literally, above its ground, the two pile heights giving the border its architecture. An Ottoman fruit, served with full honours.
