Catwalk emerges from Isabelle de Borchgrave's original paper creation, conceived for the Frida Kahlo Miradas de Mujeres exhibition as a collage steeped in Mexican cultural heritage. The design distils traditional weaving alongside geometric motifs and the chromatic intensity of Kahlo's vision, with irregular edges suggesting authentic wear. Now realised in hand-tufted construction, the rug orchestrates a nuanced interplay between cut pile and loop pile of varying heights, echoing the layered paper cutouts of its conceptual ancestor. Trompe-oeil becomes the designer's instrument for conjuring reverie.
