Cheng is traditionally hand-knotted in Nepal, in two pile heights of wool and silk — the change of level and fibre giving its geometry a quiet, structural depth. That geometric rigour is then subtly softened by the tonal scheme, lighter at the centre and deepening toward the edges, so the rug seems gently lit from within. Discipline and warmth, knotted together in the old way.
