Chenonceau is a wool rug inspired by a Braquenié gouache painted during the second half of the nineteenth century and kept in the Pierre Frey archives. It presents a trellis pattern decorated with stylised flowers in the Louis XVI manner, entirely hand-knotted in Nepal. The pedigree is double — a great French archive, a great knotting tradition — and the rug carries both with the ease of things properly made.
