Pierre Frey | Clare

Clare is the most graphic of the Sequana II tweeds: a small block check in which neighbouring squares are woven in different shades, so the cloth reads almost as a mosaic. The flecked Donegal yarn keeps the colour from feeling flat. It is dense and weighty at 965 g per metre and rated to 45,000 rubs, comfortably enough for a much-used sofa or a set of dining chairs. Because it is a free match there is little waste when cutting, which helps on larger pieces. Prune is dark enough to ground a room, while Aqua and Tyrian bring olive, sage and violet against a cream ground.
