Côa takes its inspiration from prehistoric cave art: a pastel drawing translated into multiple chiné yarns and gradations of tone. The New Zealand wool loop chinés give the rug its rustic character, while tufted polka dots introduce a more irregular, contemporary note — mark-making from two eras sharing one surface. The oldest art there is, remembered by hand in wool.
