Pierre Frey | Cordage – Crème

From 1987 Christian Astuguevieille began making furniture and sculpture from rope, coiling and painting it until material and meaning met. Cordage carries that work into cloth: a weave built with genuine volume, close enough to the original pieces that rope appears to wind across the surface in four interlaced loops. It is a fabric about a sculptor's method rather than about a pattern, and it has the presence to be used sparingly.
