Coromandel reproduces an Indienne printed at Jouy-en-Josas in the last quarter of the eighteenth century. From around 1778, Indian-inspired motifs entered the productions of the famous Oberkampf manufactory, whose designers drew on a rich collection of Indiennes; first restricted to furnishing, Jouy's 'Persians' were soon used for dresses, and the taste endured through the century's final decades. The original wood-block document is kept in the heritage archives of Maison Pierre Frey.
