Cosimo is hand-knotted in the traditional way, and its subtlety comes from mixing wool and silk in the pile. Worked almost tone on tone, the silk ground reflects light where the wool absorbs it, so the detail of this archive motif emerges through sheen rather than through colour. It is a rug that changes considerably depending on where you stand and where the light is coming from.
