Dejeuner sur l'Herbe is a re-edition of a toile known as 'Fruits', drawn in 1942 by Jean-Denis Malclès. With the artist's imagination, Pierre Frey sought to bring poetry indoors, and this cheerful picnic fantasy does exactly that, printed on a cut pile so the drawing sits underfoot like a spread cloth on grass. A rug with a sense of occasion, and of humour.
