Escaut is a stripe in three tones, set to a regular rhythm so the wall gains structure without pattern. It is printed on paper thread, which gives the ground a fine woven grain quite unlike a smooth paper and softens the edge of the stripe very slightly. The colour range is wide, and the design is quiet enough to carry a room on its own or to sit behind pattern elsewhere.
