Étretat takes a Scottish tartan and re-reads it through a high-performance in-outdoor chenille weave, so a check with centuries of country houses behind it arrives with a soft, slightly napped hand. In Lichen the palette settles into a quiet green, muted enough to sit against oak and stone without asserting itself. It is woven in Pierre Frey's own workshops in northern France, an EPV-certified maison whose particular expertise is light-resistant, water-repellent, washable and mould-resistant cloth — which is why it takes so readily to seating, indoors or out. It coordinates with the plain in-outdoor chenille Comporta.
