Falbala is a geometric variation woven as a Toile de Tours in two tones, and it looks unmistakably of the 1940s — that decade's habit of taking a simple shape and repeating it with confidence. Two colours keep it disciplined. Woven rather than printed, the drawing has a softness at the edges that a print of the same design would not have, and it upholsters well at small scale.
