Festival is a print on natural linen made of huge washes of colour crossing one another, drawn from expressionist harmonies and executed with real panache. Linen is the right ground for it: the fibre's irregularity breaks the edge of each wash so the colour looks brushed rather than printed. It is a fabric with no interest in being discreet, and it is best given room.
