A chevron drawn large and left irregular, Flame Large Thorp takes the Hungarian stitch that was fashionable in the seventeenth century and states it in a single colour at contemporary scale. It is screen printed. Keeping it monochrome is what makes it work now — the zigzag becomes a texture read across a whole curtain or a wall of upholstery rather than a period motif, and the irregularity keeps it from looking mechanical.
