Christian Astuguevieille's interpretation draws from an eighteenth-century copperplate print originally created by Jean-Baptiste Huet for the Oberkampf manufactory. Rather than a faithful reproduction, the designer has selectively emphasised certain motifs from the classical composition, overlaying them with expressive brushwork and India ink marks that introduce contemporary abstraction. The result bridges two artistic sensibilities: the refined Neoclassical vocabulary of Fountains and Animals with gestural, modern interventions that reinvigorate the historic source material and offer a refreshed perspective on this celebrated design heritage.
