Pierre Frey | Fontaine Et Animaux – Noir/Blanc

Fontaine et Animaux is Christian Astuguevieille's fresh reading of an emblematic fabric designed by Jean-Baptiste Huet, printed by copperplate at the Oberkampf manufactory in Jouy-en-Josas around 1803 and conserved in the archives. The scale has been altered and the original latticework ground replaced by flat planes in the artist's own register, so the neoclassical motif gains a distinctly contemporary footing.
