Francine is an outstanding silky boutis: a jacquard quilted with the precision of an early nineteenth-century Provençal jacket, hand-embroidered in the traditional technique and kept in the Pierre Frey archives. Woven three metres wide and washable, it proves as precious made up in curtains as in bedspreads. Needlework heritage, in short, quietly re-engineered for the demands of daily life.
