Funky Damask draws on French seventeenth-century damask and, through it, on the court of Louis XIV — the scale and symmetry of that period intact, the name signalling that it is not offered as a museum piece. It is woven in cotton with silk in the blend, so the pattern turns from matt to lustrous as light moves across it. Grand, but not solemn.
