Gassin is a linen basket weave, and what distinguishes it is weight: a heavy fall and a hand that is thick without being stiff. That combination is unusual enough to make it work in both directions — it hangs properly as a curtain and it stands up to upholstery. The colour range is wide and cheerful rather than muted, and basket weave in linen has never really dated.
