Gisors sets a vertical herringbone in two colours and lets the result tip towards Op Art — at the right distance the columns begin to flicker. It is a Toile de Tours, so the pattern is woven rather than printed, which gives the edges of the zigzag a slight softness and keeps the optical effect pleasurable rather than aggressive. It is drawn small enough to work across a whole chair.
