Gisors is a stripe with an unusually good pedigree: it forms the background of a very fine eighteenth-century indienne wallpaper held in the archives, and serves as the ground of Rozière as well. Promoted here to stand alone, it proves what the house has long known — that the supporting role often holds the room together.
