Pierre Frey | Gorgone

Gorgone takes its drawing from gorgonians — the sea fans of the kind kept in a cabinet of curiosities — and the result reads as coral and plant at once, organic without settling into either category. It is a Toile de Tours, woven rather than printed, so the branching structure is built into the cloth and catches light along its lines. Quietly odd, in the way the best natural-history motifs are.
