Gratien is an organic, fluid, curvilinear motif that reads variously as stylised foliage, waves or arabesques — deliberately unresolved, and better for it. It belongs to a bold contemporary idiom while drawing its line from Art Nouveau, whose flowing forms it clearly remembers. The curve never stops moving, which is precisely what keeps the cloth alive.
