Pierre Frey | Greuze – Bleu Rouge

Greuze is composed of wavy bands decorated with flowers, evoking the floral ribbons of the second half of the eighteenth century. Decoration of this kind, characteristic of the Louis XVI style, was particularly prized for elegant ladies' dresses — and something of that dressmaker's grace survives in the repeat. Ribbon, flower and undulation: a courteous pattern, beautifully mannered.
