Pierre Frey | Hermine

Hermine reproduces the ermine tail — the speckle — together with the three bars that once held it in place on a garment such as a royal coat. Stylised, the device passed into heraldry, appearing on a great many feudal coats of arms and, most familiarly, on the Breton flag. As a repeat it behaves like a small figured motif: heavy with history, light on the eye.
