Imani is entirely hand-knotted in Nepal, offering an original and delicate design in which lines of silk fringes travel across a cut-velvet ground of wool and natural silk. The fringes are the surprise: a detail usually confined to a rug's edges, here drawn through the field itself, giving the surface movement and a fine linear rhythm. Between the lustre of silk and the depth of wool, the rug rewards both the eye and the bare foot.
