Jaipur sits squarely in the Braquenié tradition: chunky wool borders worked so they read as artisan embroidery rather than as weaving, framing motifs taken from an eighteenth-century Indian panel — painted and printed — held in the house archives. The borders do most of the work, giving the rug a defined edge and a hand-made weight that machine-drawn ornament cannot imitate.
