Pierre Frey | Jardins Parisiens – Vert Jardin

Marin Montagut painted the watercolours for Jardins Parisiens garden by garden, in the spirit of eighteenth-century engraving: the 'Sénat' chair from the Luxembourg, a flamingo strayed from the Jardin des Plantes, a sailing boat from the Tuileries. The result is a stroll rather than a scene — episodic, unhurried, and best read close up, where each vignette can be found in turn.
