Konotori reflects a late nineteenth-century Japanese motif preserved in the archives of la Maison Pierre Frey. It is printed on the Shiva silk wallpaper ground, so the drawing sits on a genuinely lustrous natural surface that answers the light as paper cannot. A matching fabric exists for those extending the scheme. It is an archive document treated with proper respect: the right motif, on the right material, left to speak for itself.
