La Cite Interdite is a pure linen print inspired by a nineteenth-century Chinese painted cloth, found in the hidden treasure of a Pekinese collector, describing court life in an unknown city at the time of the great emperors. The detail of the characters and the quality of the rendering give the fabric a genuine authenticity, extremely close to the original document. It is a narrative cloth in the grand tradition, a story to be read slowly, at scale.
