Pierre Frey | La smala – Multicolore

La smala presents a distinctive composition of linen embellished with raised embroidery depicting Native American figures rendered in their traditional regalia and distinctive postures. The three-dimensional embroidery technique creates subtle modeling and depth across these stylised characters, imbuing the fabric with tactile sophistication. This design emerged from a collaborative endeavour with students of the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris, bringing a thoughtful, illustrative approach to the textile. The combination of natural linen ground with dimensional embroidery creates an engaging surface with considerable visual and textural interest.
