L'arbre magique presents a compelling study in botanical narrative, rendered with spontaneous expressiveness upon linen. The design celebrates an Edenic vision through its imaginative portrayal of an abundant tree, inhabited by an ornithological cast of fantastic birds and an abundance of flowering forms. The gestural quality of the hand-drawn composition lends immediacy and movement to the composition, whilst the interplay of figure and negative space creates visual depth. This is design rooted in the romantic tradition of natural observation, yet executed with distinctly contemporary freedom and sensibility.
