L'Atelier d'Isabelle 1 comes from the protective tablecloths of Isabelle de Borchgrave's studio, cloths bearing the unintended imprint of creation, an organic memory of her artistic gesture. In them one discerns the lines of one project and traces of the next: a painting without intention, offering the very soul of her practice. A repeat was developed for easier use, and the Pierre Frey studio has treated it literally, as a print on heavy cotton highlighted with touches of white lacquer.
