Pierre Frey | Le banquet – Vert

Le Banquet is directly inspired by a painted ceiling discovered in a castle in the Czech Republic. The whimsical drawing belongs to the pictorial genre that replaces man with animal, cousin to the French singeries of the eighteenth century, and like them it was entertainment with an edge: a pretext for social satire. The fabric keeps both registers, a feast of animals to amuse the eye, and a quiet joke about the company we keep.
