Le Grand Genois is a great classic of Pierre Frey, here inviting us to revisit the use of the eighteenth-century Indian palempore, originally intended for walls. Entirely hand-knotted in the traditional way in Nepal, with a wool pile, it resettles that decorative tradition onto the floor. The logic is persuasive: a textile once hung as a decor becomes a rug with the composed, framed character of a hanging, made to be lived on.
