Le Jardin du Palais Velours is a nocturnal evocation of the garden of paradise so dear to the sixteenth-century Safavid dynasty, and it leaves one dreaming. Printed on cotton velvet, it presents a lush Persian landscape in which gazelles, tigers, squirrels, flamingos and herons coexist peacefully within an ideal flora. The pile deepens the night-garden atmosphere, and the design has a second life as a table service developed with the Faiencerie de Gien.
