Les Allees de Marly faithfully reproduces the designs of the grand avenues of the Marly garden, as depicted in the Albums de Marly, four exceptional volumes preserved by the National Archives among the collections of the King's Buildings. These watercolour and ink plans and bird's-eye views record the chateau, park and groves of the king's private residence, where Louis XIV withdrew from the court. Printed on linen, it is garden history made cloth, precise, aerial and quietly grand.
