Lucille brings a surrealist interpretation of the eighteenth-century Indian tree to the wall, its large foliage, fruits and exotic flowers printed on a wide-width glazed non-woven backing. The document tradition supplies the vocabulary, and the surrealism supplies the liberty: growth and fruit combined as no botany would allow, yet composed with an old decorator's balance. The glazed surface lends a soft sheen, and the wide width keeps joins to a minimum.
