Marie-Paule is based on the cross-stitch embroidery of a nineteenth-century document in the Maison archives, its charming cluster design built up in a tile-like construction on a natural linen ground. The surprise is how authentic the translation feels: the squared logic of cross-stitch survives intact, giving the pattern a gridded, handworked honesty. Set against the linen, it has the appeal of something from a well-kept farmhouse — modest, precise and quietly delightful.
