Mariefred takes its name from the town where one of Sweden's most famous castles stands, and its pattern from a delightful cotton canvas printed by woodblock in the second half of the eighteenth century, preserved in the Maison's archives. A fantasy stripe of blossoming branches, it brings the paper the ordered liveliness of the original cloth: the stripe holds the wall steady while the flowering line wanders through it.
