Mattangs — also called Medosou or Rebbelibs — were the ancestral nautical charts of Polynesia: bent wooden sticks tracing ocean currents, shells marking the islands. The Mattang rug is freely inspired by that art, playing with lines and points across its surface. It is made with a wool pile ground and loops mixing wool and bamboo, so the chart's intersections become changes of texture underfoot — navigation translated into weaving.
