India Mahdavi's collection for Pierre Frey centres on velvet — a material invented in Kashmir, called swansdown there, used first in Iran and only later brought to Europe. Medium is the plain cotton version: incredibly soft, and robust enough to pass 100,000 Martindale cycles, which is why it has become a fixture.
