Memphis is a free creation combining a whole series of borders directly inspired by the collections of the Swiss Egyptologist Gustave Jequier. Hand-tufted in New Zealand wool, the composition is a tribute to the decorative modernity of the Egypt of the Pharaohs — ornament thousands of years old that reads, band by band, as if drawn yesterday. Assembled as a rug, the stacked borders give the floor an architecture of its own.
